Delete Your Data

This page explains how to request deletion of the data collected by Naptime (the free, donation-supported edition of the Naptime app). For full details on what we collect and why, see our Naptime Free Privacy Policy.

Important: Please delete your data before uninstalling the app. The deletion is performed from within the app, so uninstalling first removes the controls needed to request server-side deletion. See the note at the bottom of this page if you have already uninstalled.

How to request deletion

Naptime Free does not require an account, and your data is associated only with an anonymous, randomly generated installation identifier. You do not need to know or provide this identifier — the app handles it for you. To delete your data:

Open the Naptime app on your device.
Go to Settings.
Tap "Delete my data".
Confirm by typing DELETE when prompted.

This single action erases your data both on your device and on our servers. No further steps are required.

What is deleted

On your device, the following is permanently removed:

All nap and sleep session records and history.
App settings, alarm and snooze state, and tags.
Crash logs and the consent and installation-identifier records.
Any session data files (e.g. CSV exports) created by the app in your Downloads folder.

On our servers, the same action permanently and irreversibly removes all data associated with your installation identifier, including:

All uploaded nap and sleep sessions and their movement statistics.
All crash and diagnostic records.
All metadata linked to your installation identifier.

What is kept

Data that has already been irreversibly aggregated or anonymized into a pooled dataset before your deletion request can no longer be linked to your installation identifier, and therefore cannot be individually separated out or removed. This residual data contains no information that identifies you.

Data retention period

We retain the data associated with your installation identifier until you delete it as described above; there is no fixed expiry. Once you request deletion, the records associated with your installation identifier are removed from our active systems and cannot be recovered. We do not currently keep backups of this data; should we introduce backups in the future, deleted data will be purged from them within 30 days.

If you have already uninstalled the app

Because Naptime Free never collects your name, email address, or any other personal identifier, data on our servers is anonymous and cannot be traced back to you once the app — and the installation identifier it stored — has been removed from your device. Reinstalling the app generates a new identifier and does not reconnect you to the previous data. As a result, any residual data is already anonymous and cannot be linked to you as an individual.
